The meaning of God

Tracing the origins of the word God through the shadows of the past

This being my first post on Medium, I thought I’d open modestly: with God.

My humble goal was to know why we use the utterance ‘god’ in English to indicate the all-powerful creator ‘God’. Why G-O-D in particular, and not some other word? I could find very little definitive online about this and became curious. If you are reading this, I assume you are too.
